Afternoon all
Struggling to find some of these for SVA. I've tried ebay and Tifosi and come up empty handed. I've seen photos on here of boots that
cover the main part of the ball joint and that's the bit I'm having fun covering as anything cable tied slips off because of the awkward
shape.
Any ideas people?
Many thanks
Nigel
I cut up an old inner tube into strips. with a 2nd pair of hands we stretched some strips around the outer circuference of the ball joint nice and
tight so it sort of closed over the edges. Holding this in place over the threaded section and nut I then stretched some more strips around the
threaded section and nut over the ends of the first strips. This was then cable tied in place to hold everything together.
Possibly a little difficult to explain without a pic though...!
It certainly wasn't an "elegant" solution, but the SVA man was satisfied with it's "permanency". Although it did
"fall-off" on the way back home
ETA...
Found some piccies to help - you can see where I used the same technique on the base of the headlamps too

Much appreciated, I've have a go tonight.
I covered this area with electrical 'split' conduit.
It was held on with two cable ties as per the pictures above.
I'll dig out the pair that i have if you like Nigel. Brand new and never fitted - you are welcome to borrow them for SVA. Its not like i'll
be needing them for quite a while!!
I put a length of fuel pipe over the nut and secured it with a cable tie.If you cut the pipe carefully it is possible to have the ends almost butted
together and then tuck the cable tie in between so it hardly shows. The SVA tester was happy with it and they are still on my car as they look neater
than rusty lock nuts.
Paul.
Same solution here as well Nigel, bit of old innertube and cableties exactly the same as the photo.
I managed to get some U-Trim around the end of the headlamp bar and this was acceptable.
One problem I had and this will depend on your headlights, is the mounting bolts. (Where the cables go in). Mine were still contactable despite being
recessed and having the edge trim on the headlamp bar. I managed to get around this with a bit of careful trimming of some nut covers.......just one
to bear in mind.
