does anyone know where you can get a small amount of thin chequre plate (ally)

Just for doing the foot well

sizes are roughly 2 X 53inches X 17 inches
or
2 X 23 inches X 17 inches and 2 X 30inches X 17 inches ?

what do people use for edging along the side where you step into the car ??

I did this to cover the area where you get in and out.

Its made from wood and then varnished and covered in material that same as the dash.

when you say thin, how thin?

pretty sure BQ sell it but it is really for decoration i.e. very thin so you wouldn't be making a flook out of it, unless you are Fred Flinbtone.

The side trim - I have bits of alu strip to which foam is flued and over whcih vinyl is glued and the lot is pu'ed ... but that is not the quick fix you are axking about.

I believe MK (?) sell a flattened C section in aluminiuim and I thik there is shower strip that can be used. Another thing to look at is the rubber used for petrol tank straps although I suspect the shape won't be right.

I can put picture of my side trim but it would not show you anyting more than the photos already posted - it looks similar but has not visible screws.

re: aluminium trim - can't help you any more that wot I writ - you would need to search on here or wait until someone is using the stuff I mentioned.

I used chequer plate on top of the steel floor - I think that's what you are intending to do? I cut the pieces to shape, then PUd and riveted them down, + silicone sealant round the edges.

I got the chequer plate as offcuts from a local ali supplier (Spa Aluminium in Tunbridge Wells, if that's any help)

To cover the side rails, I used large D section hollow rubber - I got it from a show, intending to cover it with vinyl, but couldn't get it all to stick together so I slit it down the edge and stuck it on with double sided tape. It was just going to be for SVA but I've never got round to taking it off!

Try the 'www.metalsupermarket.com' most towns have one of these.
The one in Southampton sold be a bit of chequer plate approx 18" x 20" for £2 - cant go wrong with that...
