Wanted ~

Aluminium tube or pipe with an ID of 42mm or as close as possible to this. Wall thickness must be >2mm around 300mm length required (or 4 off >75mm long)

That is about the dimension of aluminium scafold tube.I have used offcuts in the past and it had a bore of just over 40mm and wall thickness of 4 or 5 mm.
Im sure there must be a local building site with some lying around.

TV mast tube cheap as chips or the metal supermarket

the plumbers use that size check out http://www.lawtontubes.co.uk/PLUMBING_spec.htm

And get the local plumb supliers to get ya some Chrome plated

can't use the copper stuff as its being TIG welded to an aluminium flange

Thanks for the links. I have a few places locally to ring on tuesday but though I'd try and see if anyone had any or more ideas.

ASC metals were very well priced and helpfull but only wanted to sell me 5 metres, which would have been OK but I opted to buy just 2 feet instead.

not easy to hold a good roundness tolerance doing that though
