WTD part to be made (turning)
locoboy - 28/10/12 at 10:04 PM

Hi,

I am looking to get a part made, I don't have the machinery or skills to make it.

It is basically a 75mm long M8 setscrew with the head turned down to size, then a hole drilled down it through the head for 50mm, the bottom 25mm of it to be tapped out to m4 and the upper 25mm of it to be drilled out to 5mm.

Edit to say the m4 tapping does not need to be blind to the bottom of the hole, the hole can be as deep as you want so long as its tapped for 25mm or more making the tapping bit easier.

I also need another bit making, its basically a socket without the teeth in and could be steel or ally.

I have attached a basic drawing.
Let me know if you are able to do it, beer tokens waiting.
Or if you can't do it and you can think of anyone who can, just shout up....

Thanks

We could have a look at it if it's not urgent but we're on holiday for the rest of this week, you will prob get it done before we are back at work!

Ps It will greatly assist whoever does the work if they know what tolerances you are working to.
If there's nothing on the drawing then they have to be made to the precise size quoted which takes a bit longer.

it can be quite hard to machine a HT bolt, especially cutting with an M4 tap

does it need to be threaded all the way down the outside ?

Thanks for the comments and offers guys.

I am having a redesign think at the moment as I hashed together a simpler prototype today and it worked! - there's a first for me!

I will be back in due course - no rush btw and thanks for the offer, I will firm us tolerances too.
