Trailer winch (electric)
lsdweb - 11/11/11 at 03:06 PM

Hi All

I'm looking for an electric winch to load and unload (therefore must be reversible) my Elan (when finished!) to/from my new trailer.

The car will be circa 600kg and I'm looking at POWERFUL 6000 LB 12V ELECTRIC 6000LB REVERSIBLE WINCH | eBay

Any thoughts / suggestions?

I've got the same one and it's OK.

Pulls mine onto the trailer, no problem.

I have the same one you can have for £50 inc delivery, save yourself a few quid. I bought it for my trailer but its sat indoors for ages and i keep using the manual winch or driving the cars in.

Thanks guys.

Eddie99 is it brand new and can you tell me how long the cable to the 'remote control' is as I need a pretty long one!

Same here, very similar, it has solinodes in a box on the motor so you can have a long lead, works fine.

Couple of issues, the knob you pull out to freewheel fell off in minutes, not a problem as I winch on and off and the motor rattles loose from the spool every now and then so needs some locktite on the bolts.

Regards Mark

Thanks guys.

Glad the remote is a low current one!

Mine was similar, the body looks the same but on mine I have an extra box, that looks like a full current remote to me.

Word of caution ... Safe working load of 4mm galvanised wire is only about 250 kilos. It would be ok for kit weighing 600 kgs or so, but don't be tempted to drag a tintop weighing 1 1/2 ton up the ramp.
