Does anyone have any IVA friendly bonnet catches surplus to requirements / needing a new home?
If so get in touch please, beer tokens waiting

Do what I did Andy, use Dzeus fasteners, nice and flush and supposed to be nice and secure. Well they work OK on aircraft anyhow

I,ve got some Dzus style fasteners but a little unsure how to attach them .....I mean to get the hole in the bonnet to mate up with the backing plate
etc...worried I,ll cock it up etc

I had the same doubt mate, but managed to sort it. Just made some 'L'-shaped brackets, welded them to the chassis rails then riveted the
spring portion to that. Measured the position of the centre from the rail and the scuttle/nosecone, then 'went for it' in the bonnet. The
result is OK for me, I even managed to line up the springs so the fastener slot is horizontal when locked so it looks nicer

yes I agree they do look smart when fitted, but was just worried about making holes in the bonnet that didn,t line up etc ...gulp.
may I ask.....did you rivet the spring part to the plate so that it sits between the bonnet & the backing plate or so that the spring is behind
the backing plate with a hole thru it?
I bought a full kit of dzus fasteners which came with the screw part, spring & the backing plate .
Any pics of yours showing the backing plate/spring ?
cheers

NO! Make the hole in the bonnet first, measure, and tape the inside bracket to the chassis in different spots til you find the right one, then rivet or weld it on.
RK has a point! It is probably the better way, at least you know you'll be making any adjustments 'out-of-sight'
I'll try and get a piccy later, but this is how I did mine:
