FS: TVR Chimaera - Perfect winter fiddle toy

Right, I have decided that I want to get a defender instead, mostly because I am fed up of muddy wet cavers/climbers getting into my tin top!

This is a beautiful car and drives like a dream. There are a few things that need to be tidied up so it would be an ideal project car for the winter months but you could still drive it when you want to go play. Small things like needing new wing mirrors (all original TVR ones become loose over time), needing a new battery in the odometer etc. Nothing too complex or expensive thankfully. Plenty of info available online about how to fix things and parts are mostly vauxhall/ford..

This is not a perfect garage queen, it is supposed to be driven!!

The engine pulls like a train, the chassis and outriggers are excellent.

• 1994 TVR Chimaera 4.0L V8.
• Torqueflow upgrade (Inlet plenum, MAF and ECU tweak)
• Performance contactless ignition system
• Upgraded alloy radiator with twin fans
• Black silicone hoses
• Borg Warner T5 gearbox
• Limited slip differential
• Drilled and grooved disks
• Team dynamics rally spec wheels with nearly new Toyo Proxies
• Recently fitted new roof with removable carbon fibre centre section (fits in the boot with plenty of room for bags)
• Lupo headlight upgrade (you can see where you are going at speed in the dark!)
• CD player with Aux connector for ipod.
• Electric windows.
• Recent oil/filter change.
• Origional TVR handbook with service records.
• TVR space saver alloy spare wheel

£6600 o.n.o

It's even practical too!

Bit suspicious of any car that needs a lifeboat in the boot

No, seriously, beautiful car. Wish I could afford it. Good luck with the sale.

I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

Hi Bob.

The odometer battery has failed (standard TVR issue) and I have not had a chance to replace it. The last MOT has the mileage as 63,000 and I have added around 3000 since then.

Service wise I have the origional handbook all stamped up by TVR dealers until '04 then have notes of services after that.

I don't have any record of when the TF large bore plenum and ignition bits were fitted but I would say it is in the last 5 years looking at the shiny-ness of it.

I purchased the car in the summer and did a full oil, filter, plugs change and found nothing un-toward. In the 3000 miles of spirited driving I have done over the summer I have not once had to top up the oil or the water....Not bad really given its age and suggests the engine is doing ok! Starts first time, every time

I am a mechanical Engineer by trade (ex Rolls Royce) so I do have a pretty good idea of what I am looking at. I bought the car to "fiddle with" but was satisfied that apart from some cosmetic tidying I wouldn't need to touch the engine.

There are similar cars going for a lot more but as this is not a perfect garage queen the price is less. I bought the car to drive not to look at! (although it's pretty good to look at all the same )

A good buy for someone, I do miss my old Chimaera 500, prices are always strong on Chimaera's, which makes them a good value buy, if you get a good one, you should at least get your money back after a couple of years of running

Dammit - I need a bigger garage! I liked it when you first bought this car, and I still like it today. Must resist...
