Don't RX7 engines have horrendous fuel consumption??

Bad fuel consumption compared to what? Most 400bhp engines are gonna be thirsty...

The RX7s rotary lump (13b) is a fantastic unit, I'd love a car with one.

as above, yes they are not great on fuel and if you only had 200bhp you probably wouldnt be too happy with it but it doesnt really get much worse with more power unless you are driving it hard and i dont think its much worse than anything else with power.

The wankel engine is a great design and lends itself well to forced induction but I never understood why the consumption was never good - a litre of fuel has so much energy and an engine converts that to power as efficiently as possible. Wankel engines don't run any richer than normal and look to have less friction so there's something amiss somewhere.
