Warning: Long Advert!
I've decided to sell my 'Locost' Sprint and Hillclimb car at the end of the season to make way for my single seater build.
Although there are still a couple of events to go I want to get the advert up in case somebody wants to see the car in action or drive it before
comitting to buy. Will be at Blyton on July 11th, Curborough on Aug 8th and Thoresby Park 13/14th September
Currently the car is in Sprint/Hillcimb specification running in class 4A (Sports Libre) of the NSCC Speed Championship. But it could be converted
back to RGB spec for Class F or the possible new '7' class (would make a stonking car for this) with a few minor changes.
If you are interested U2U me.
Price... not sure yet and it may depend a bit on specification/package

Weight:
The car was last weighed at 445kg but that was with the old 22ltr fuel tank, 7ltr of fuel on board, front lights and the old Sierra steering column,
the new tank is 3kg lighter and only needs 1ltr of fuel for a sprint run so current weight would be 430-435Kg. A few pounds spent on a carbon fibre
seat and a lighter set of wheels (the compomotives are quite heavy) would bring the weight down to 420(ish)Kg which is very light for a fully caged
car.
A bit of history:
I bought the chassis in 2010 from LCB's own TimC, it had been collaberation with LCB'er Steve Hignett to be an RGB Race car. I was looking
to start a build and had viewed nearly all of what was for sale from the usual suppliers (MK, MAC 1, Aries etc etc) and was about to make a purchase
but when I saw this chassis I had to have it.
Its just a work of art, a full round tube spaceframe with an FIA homolgated Caged Roll Cage its probably most comparable to a Road Runner SR2. Its
insanely light and really stiff, as a motorsport engineer its was just the best '7' chassis I had seen (sorry to gush).
The chassis build thread is here:
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=132958
I spent two years completing the car to RGB race car specification and was entered into the Mallory park round of the RGB championship that year and
was all set to start racing but when the first engine went bang in testing I had a bit of a rethink and took a step back.
In 2013 I was pretty distracted and the car was used as an occasional toy (~5 trackdays).
In 2014 I decided to go sprinting so I converted its car to current specification and entered the final round of the 2014 NSCC championship.
In 2015 I have mounted a full campaign in the NSCC championship, 5 rounds so far with 3 left to run I have been hovering in the top 5 all season.
The car excels most in terms of mechanical grip and high speed cornering, its totally predictable and driveable right on the edge.
Snippet of the results of the MAC Sprint at MIRA this year:
No. | Name | Car | c.c. | Run 1 | Run 2 | Position
65 | Callan Trump | T89 Designs Locost Sprint | 919 | 52.12 | 50.82 | 2nd
766 | Paul Morris | Radical Clubsport | 1352 | 54.15 | 52.99 | 4th
66 * | Steve Brennan | Radical Clubsport | 1352 | 51.42 | 55.89 | 3rd
67 * | David Large | Radical PR6 | 1340 | 51.99 | 50.27 | 1st
Despite being 90bhp+ down on the 'busa powered radicals it can mix with them even with my ham-fisted driving. A trip to AB performace for a
CBR1000RR conversion would see you blowing them off the track.

Nice looking car Callan!
You'll be chasing my record on Saturday mate! If your tyres are fairly recent there's every chance you'll do it as mine were 3 seasons
old
Thats one mean looking son of a bitch

I'm hoping to go faster this year than the radical last year but only been out once in the force and threw it off a few times
Too heavy on the loud pedal

I have been having a think about price. I would initially be looking for £8.5k for the car or £9k for the car and the Woodford Single axle 1300kg trailer it lives on. Obviously open to offers and negotiation.
Then you can buy a force!
a bit of a thread hijack but im not far from Curborough and wondered if your aloud to just turn up and spectate on Aug 8th, also would there be many bike engine cars there?
Yes, anyone can go in.
I'll be there (obviously) and there are usually loads of othr BEC's running.
I've not logged on/posted in quite some time, and see this today!
I know the comments weren't directed to me, but thanks very much for what you say about the chassis!
It was not a two minute affair for it to be built (and Joe Welderman certainly helped out with it at the end!), but the concept of the chassis design
happened in my vodka addled brain in superquick time - I just knew that the placement of every single tube and diff "cage" etc had to go
where I put them, with 1.1 and 0.9mm x 2mm tubes...
Also, relieved to hear that it came in as a lightweight car at the end, as I was worried that the final weld-up and capping all the open tube ends
would turn it into a lardy-boy...
I canhonestly say that when you look at parts like the diff brackets, or front 'bone supports feeding into the engine mount support etc,
it's a chassis that I will have a picture of in my mind for the rest of my life!!!
I hope you sell it for a good price and the new owner gets everything out of it that you have Callan!!!
GLWTS...
Cheers,
Steve
Edited to add, it's just put a great big smile on my face, to see your photos and the half of my build diary that I photographed!!!

Things usually get going after 9am, lunch around midday and then finish before 5pm
Come over for a natter, or bring £8.5k and you can have a go!
Haha almost spent that on my build already lol

Bump, no serious interest yet. A really unique Locost, would be a shame to have to stick it on ebay.
Bump
The Thoresby Park rounds have now been cancelled so the car is ready to go straight away. Would be great for someone to do a couple of rounds at the
end of this season.
Bump, still for sale. Taking offers now.
How can you resist something this low?

Now on ebay:

The stupid questions and ridiculous offers are flooding in already!
Price drop to £8k
Another bump, price drop to £7.5k. Needs to go to make way for my single seater.
Or a whole competitive package ready to run (Car and trailer and spares) for £8k must be a good deal for someone.
With the season now finished it took me to 9th overall (would have been higher if the final two rounds weren't cancelled), it was highest placed
Sports Libre Car and it got me the award for highest placed novice.
Bump. Now on Race Cars Direct:
https://racecarsdirect.com/Advert/Details/64346/locost-7-seven-racesprinthillclimb-bec-car
Taking any serious offers now, please dont make me break such a nice car!
Last price drop to £7k. If it doesnt sell I'm going to give it away in a competition!
I cannot believe this has not sold??? what a fantastic car and for this money nothing out there compairs.
I am very surprised
Buyers market
The way that I use my car now I would swap my car for this in a heart beat. If you cant get 7K for yours, I am not going to get even 5k for mine!!!
I'm currently checking on the legalities to run a competition to give it away, looks like its quite simple.
Somebody might get the car for £10.
