BIke Engined Clan Cusader For Sale
Parky - 1/6/11 at 10:15 AM

I am putting up my bike engined Clan Crusader for sale due to the arrival of another project. The car is a MINT 1974 shell in Yellow fitted with a fireblade engine. Engine, gears, exhaust, brakes, suspension etc are all fitted and all wiring to run engine is complete. All that remains to do is fit fuel lines and cooling system and replace trim bits such as dashboard, windscreen etc. This really is a VERY simple project to complete and ALL parts are there to finish. This will make a fantastic car when finished. I am looking for £3750 for the lot. U2U me for pics and more details or call 07861 996703.

Also 2 sets of 185/60/13 track tyres with very little use. 1 set Toyo 888 , 1 set Yoko 048s 200 ono per set.

Cheers

I wish you hadn't put this up, just what I need right now - another project in the workshop....

Ok , looks like it's EBAY bound. Watch out for it over the next few days. Clans are making good money on EBAY at the moment , even poor examples( Have a look on EBAY right now!) , so I expect this to do well!

berlinkin flip, sounds like you had an angle grinder for an engine .... or forgot to put some oil in it!

to my unttrained eye, it seems to corner quite well without much body roll

My mate Graham is progressing with the build of his two.
A race car and a rally car.
No engines in yet or suspension set up, so they're sitting a tad high shall we say.

If anyone in the NE happens to be at Washington tomorrow for the Clan 40th event, they'll be there along with another pal's blackbird powered hillclimb car.

Looks tidy

It was a very carefully built angle grinder though.... 1040cc, R23 cam, worked crank/head, etc., etc., fed via a pair of 45 DHLAs. Red pipes you see are to the front radiator, nothing in the back except engine. The rattle on pull off is from the clutch ( a heavily modified twin plate) and release mechansm.
What no-one notices from the video (unless they're an Impist) is that I select *reverse* gear to pull away.....
It's a specially built S/C 5 Speed! (space was machined in the casing where reverse used to be). The clank is the QM plate differential.

No, it didn't roll, despite the antique swinging arm suspension. In all, one of the most fun cars I've ever had.
No match (now) for the BEC's, but at the time, I held many 1400cc circuit records.

Great car, great era.

I now have BECs, but always have had a passion for putting a GSXR in a Clan, just not enough life to do all this when you're competing. When I hit 50, life ends, and I hang up my helmet and spend my incontinent days eating liquidised food, then I'll perhaps have some time for some (more) projects.

I've had to have 2nd and 3rd thoughts about this Clan.

Our other pal Drew has another Clan.
This one has a Blackbird in it.

Being rear engined, traction is just mega.

It's the car nearest the camera. Taken at the weekend at the Clan 40th do.

I have to say, bike engined Clans are not for the purists, but if you're looking to build a quick car and don't have to stick with the Imp engine, it's very effective. 164bhp is beyond the wildest dreams of the wildest Imp engine. As I said though, not for the purists.

Engine set up now on Ebay. Rolling Shell available seperately if needed. I would still prefer to sell the car as a whole project and not break!
