I have a TomTom Permanent Docking Station surplus - it's for the 300, 500 and 700 models.
This permanently powers/charges the TomTom, plays the instructions through the car speakers (and mutes the stereo) and acts as a quality handsfree kit as well.
It can also be setup to automatically switch to night view when the lights are switched on.
It turns the Tomtom into a 'proper' sat nav!

Installation is pretty simple - it just plugs in between the ISO connectors on the back of your car stereo
