I've just replaced the the transfer box and viscous coupling (common faults), and these parts come with a warranty.
New rear back box
Flew though its MOT (last week)

For any prospective buyer..........

Make sure once a week you make the viscous coupling work, ie drive on some grass and make the front wheels spin, which will engage the rear drive.

Its when the coupling is not used that they sieze up and go wrong and then over time knacker the IRD (transfer box)

Good point, although not exactly correct.
My fathers business (which i help run and work for) is rebuilding freelander transfer boxes and viscous couplings, we have fitted a recon transfer box and viscous coupling to the car so it runs fine and will have no transmission problems. The parts come with a 12 month warranty.
