Hi all,
After the high of the relative success of Brands Hatch three weeks ago, we came down to earth with a bit of a bump this weekend.
The fast straights of Silverstone really showed up the lack of power we are getting from the Mountune built Lexus engine presently.
Despite the drivers best efforts the cornering performance of the cars couldn't make up for the lack of straight line speeds, and a mistake on
the gearing on Saturday meant missing a practice session on Saturday. We were playing catch up from that moment on.
On the positive side the suspension redesign we carried out during the gap between Brands and Silverstone proved to be a big step forward. The drivers
feel able to hustle the cars much more. The next problem to tackle is the lack of tyre temperature. The tyres are best suited to front wheel drive,
and the Lexus is so gentle on the tyres that we can't get within 50% of the temp measured on the front runners.
We are intending on doing the last round of the World Touring Car Championship later this month, and in the mean time we have a new specification of
damper coming to tackle the tyre temp problem, and perhaps another step on the engine.
All things said though we were still running just outside the top 10, we are looking forward to getting stuck into a big re-design and rebuild over
the winter and to getting really stuck in with the big boys next season.
Best wishes from us all to Mike Jordan, who we understand to be recovering well in Hospital, despite being in a pretty bad way yesterday.
