Dash Gauges

Looking for some insite on this.

Some of the costs are scary. But some are less scary.

So Far I looked at SMITHS and TIM Gauges.

The TIM Gauges are good I like the look of them (costs good) but they don't do a speedo!.

I was willing to shell out for a complete set but no speedo in the range.

Smiths Telemetrix range is cool as well but at 450 ish way over budget.

Can anyone else suggest where to get reasonably price gauge sets with the white dials , black text and red pointers.

Decided on

Fuel
Water Temp
Oil Press
Volts
Tacho
Speedo
Maybe an Ammeter & Clock if budget stretches.

Was looking at the Dual Water T/Oil Press from smiths.

Suggestions ?

A friend of mine use ETB instruments in his Indy. They look great (IMO) and are pretty reasonable on cost as well - I think he paid about 200-250 for Speedo, Tacho, fuel & temp inc. senders for a Pinto.

Check out http://www.etbinstruments.com/ for details.

i personally am going to use the speedo, temp and fuel guages from the donor, and not bother with the rest. maybe get an ammeter but probably not.

just gonna cut the guages out of the original dash and make mounts for them.

probably put them in the centre over the tranny tunnel so they arent obscured by the wheel.

If you want to be really cheap.

Ebay should see you for a set of reasonable old smiths gauges for less than a ton !!

Worked for me

I have...

..a set of Spitfire gauges if anyone is interested. This comprises Revcounter (electronic, 4 cyl), Speedo (0 - 125mph) which should be calibrated for Ford Type9 box, fuel and temperature gauges. Funny thing is the Sierra speedo cable fits thae speedo tail.... wierd... but very handy. They're all Smiths and match. I also have a rather interesting Smiths multi gauge that has fuel, volts & temp in one 4" gauge (same size as speedo & revcounter).

If anyone's interested, that is....

should be calibrated for a type 9 box ???

Only I have a Dolomite speedo that I am hoping not to have to have calibrated.

If it is already done it's one less cost to worry about..

Probably won't be that lucky though !!
