Flooring - chequer or standard Ali
Want to order a sheet of Ali to crack on with the flooring over the bank holiday. Can't decide between chequer plate or flat Ali.

I have normal ali but the chequer plate is much better.
Mac#1 put it in all the cars they build and looks great.

Having owned a mac 1 with chec plate and now a raw without I think chec looks great and Im supprised more don't use it
It hides scratches, dirt and don't look industrial like you would think. Just make sure its small pattern not large.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Smooth plate is very slippy when wet or a bit muddy, I made that mistake with my beach buggy and getting in and out could be quite dangerous at times.
I used the small chequer plate on my Landy and its much safer and as said above it does not get scratched either

Mine has chequer, just like mac#1's, not slippy and does'nt show muck

Im gonna buck the trend and say smooth, I think chequer looks a bit industrial.

I definitely prefer the three bar chequer, almost carbon fibre-esque in bigrich's first picture. The five bar does remind me of the stairs at
work.

There are pro's and con's to both.
Smooth is cheaper, can be much thinner (and therefore lighter) and is easier to fit. If you choose 5251 it's the same strength.
If you want chequer for the looks and a little bit of non-slip then use one of the smaller patterns, not the full size 5 bar.

Not a fan of the chequer plate look at all myself, think it looks industrial and dare I say a bit cheap. Smooth gives more surface to bond and rivet
to the chassis rails too IMHO.
non slip is easily achieved with some of the self adhesive non slip sand papery type material cut to shape in the footwells. No worries about
scratching or getting it dirty either.

Chequer plate just reminds me of 90s boy racers car mats!
Smooth with carpet or anti slip mat for me.

I tried painting my flat ally floor. It scratched off and looked terrible in about a week. Next time I do this, I'll use some etch primer first.
