Where to get reasonably priced gauges
andyace - 7/9/07 at 11:48 AM

Hello all,

I am currently trying to price up a set of gauges (2x80mm tacho and electronic speedo, 4 x 52mm volt, fuel, water and oil pressure).

I am struggling to get the above (just the gauges not senders) for under £300.

Any ideas ? Will there be any suppliers at Donny doing gauges?

ETB are reasonable I thought?

Wow, as i'm only at the planning stage of the build (hoping to get my donor this month) i hadn't looked into gauges.. I can't believe the price of them!!! For an all singing all dancing dash it will cost a small fortune. I think i'll just stick a Digidash behind the wheel as it's about the price of two normal ones and does the lot.

pity then the GT40 owner whihc his unfeasilby large plethor of guages!

I looked into this; if you want them all to be the same brand, then I think green guages are the beswt value i.e. cheapest.

Otherwise a rev counter can be taken from a variety of donors - the speedo is more problematic getting the right drive ratio.

Carbuilder solutions do a reasonably priced set of oil, water and volts gauges with senders.
Its the speedo and tacho that make your wallet squeak.
Just bought a set of 6 CAI gauges and senders and speed pick up. £400
swmbo dosn't know yet.

Tacho with 3 other integral displays on ebay - cheapish

I just purchased a Mychron3 Plus auto for $650USD includes 4 analog inputs with alarm leds, tach and speedo, sequential shift lights, gear indicator and datalogging.

My 4 inputs will be fuel level, boost (turbo car), oil press and water temp. I can configure the inputs at any time to datalog something else such as steering input, damper travel, tps....

It just bolts to a simple bracket and you hook some wires up. Otherwise I was looking at 6 analog gauges, a fabricated dash plate, no datalogging, no shift lights nor gear indicator.

It seems to be a better deal overall than individual gauges.

Just my simpleton opinion tho. Some people hate digital gauges. I think they are 'kewl'.

I got these from ebay usa, they cost £200 including import duty. They come with all the senders apart from speedo. I think the seller is oldnewparts Rescued attachment gauges.jpg

check fleabay. it will depend on how fancy dancy you want to get, but I bought a whole set of old Spitfire gauges that will need a bit of TLC for $65 US delivered (I'm in the Great White North).

Im also running dolphin gauges ( like the shark one above) as stated above £200, The only thing i dont like is the slow reaction of the rev counter - its wired to the EDIS unit on my MJL

The Vapor trailtech unit is available from TIFOSI for just over £70. Sounds good but yet to fit mine.
