Joining Carpet
stevebubs - 20/4/06 at 12:37 AM

It's starting to look like a car again!!!

I want to join 2 pieces of carpet together to make 1 seamless piece. Couldn't make it out of 1 piece as the shape would mean I would need to use the same piece of material in 2 places (see phone picture below - line on sill is where the join needs to be)

Question: What is the best way of doing this?

Go to your local carpet shop. They sell a tape that can be applied to the seem on the backing.

If its thin carpet like that acoustic stuff if can be stitched together. But as above you can get jointing tape to join it. Some has to be heated up when applied to make it stick so becareful what u get.

Just another thought, duck tape might do it.

Got some carpet tape from Swift Supplies in Portman Road - a couple of culdesacs down from the Saab Garage (same one as the Car Bar)
