Zil,

Do they not do a Black vynlcoat?
I'm not a fan of 'coloured' interiors

Nick

I like the original blue myself, stands out without being to garish.

As a matter of fact, yes they do
It's something I may give consideration to as well. Best to wait until the car is actually here. Don't want it too dull inside

I know that you are in a place where sunshine is rare but how fade resistant are the colours did some upholstery on my bike a nice Monza red and in a few months it had become a lovely pink
but then I am in sunny Australia
best wishes

Plasticote 'Crinkle' finish.

indykid - 20/2/05 at 09:54 AM

flock it

might be a bit different, possibly expensive though.

zilspeed - 20/2/05 at 10:33 AM

Right

Tell me about flocking - how does that work, how do you do it etc....

Mark Allanson - 20/2/05 at 08:20 PM

You spray an adhesive onto the parts that you want to flock, add an electrostatic charge, spray on the flock ( 1mm little hairs) and you end up with a dash looking like a 14 year olds chin

clbarclay - 20/2/05 at 08:52 PM

Real 1980's agricultural style.

Mark Allanson - 20/2/05 at 09:30 PM

More like 70's hotrod style

clbarclay - 20/2/05 at 10:10 PM

Agricultural fashion only 10 year out from mainstream, thats got to be a record.

zilspeed - 20/2/05 at 10:13 PM

So I should forget flock then ?

Is that what you're all saying...

indykid - 21/2/05 at 10:11 AM

it wouldnt be the most practical of finishes!

would be fine for glove box, door pockets, but probably not on the main bits of the dash.

sorry to give false hope
tom

Peteff - 21/2/05 at 10:28 AM

My mate Phil has a company Golf and was giving Sean a lift into work. Sean commented on the unusual finish on the dash, almost suede like. He rubbed his hand on it and it disappeared revealing the plastic underneath. Dust ! Phil cleans it now.

clbarclay - 21/2/05 at 06:08 PM

What goes around, sooner or later comes around.

If you like the flock effect then go for it I say, get in there as a trend setter, before people start covering thier corsa in the stuff.

It will also act as sound dedening if you cavor a desent quantity of the interia with it.

DarrenW - 23/2/05 at 12:55 PM

I cant vote on this one - sorry i think they all look like they will make the dask look home made and nova-ish (i was going to say crap but decided to be more objective).

I thought flocking was popular on rally cars to prevent the glare from sun hitting shiny dash reflecting back on the windscreen and reducing visibility. Surely its a bit more robust and practical than predicted on this thread. Perhaps worth trying kit to see what it looks like.

What about leather or alcantara covering? or better quality vinyl.
