I have an MGB gear leather lever gaiter very easy to fit it has a nice chrome retaining ring with screw holes.

Had a pair of stainless trim rings that i brought at a show that didn't look right , ended up selling them and made my own from a piece of 4 mm ally . gear lever gaiter was easy in a lathe , the handbrake trim I roughly cut to shape then filed and finally used a belt sander to finish off outer edges to a nice radius. managed to find a piece of scrap so all they cost was a bit of time.

Hi

I to made my own but I am lucky as I have a CNC maching centre at my disposal.

I have a spare handbrake one if you want it?

I purchased mine at a show, but decided to make my own gators since its only a small offcut of vinyl anyway. Rescued attachment MK Indy build pics 115.jpg

Sorry guys, maybe i didn't explain myself properly, i have retaining rings but what is the best way to go about it? Do you sandwich the gaiter between the rings and the tunnel and put a hole in the gaiter for securing bolt/screw to pass through or do it another way??cheers

Hi Shaun

Make a second ring that will go under the tunnel, cut the hole in the tunnel the same as the inside of the trim ring, pass the gaiter through the hole in the tunnel and clamp between the second ring and the underside of the tunnel.

I found that this way you do not need to be neat when cutting the gaiter.

Hope this helps.

You have to go a long way to beat the Goodridge range of gaitor surrounds - a bit pricey but they really look the part.

I'm sure i bought chrome gator rings at the Stafford show a couple of years back.
