Hi,
just recently joined this site , and have to say its full of great chat.
Im re-building a RH2B for hill climbs next year , and at present stripping as much weight of the already heavy frame of the car.
Ive just taken delivery of new JK seats and after sitting them in the car the are too low and embarrassing as it sounds cant see over the bonnet and
the aeroscreen (im about 5,11). I need to increase the seat height and it appears the seat frames only increase the level 25mm from what ive read.
Can someone suggest alternatives : i did find subframes on a site last night but wanst sure how they would work in a kit car???
Kev
How much height do you need to gain?
if it's an inch or two, I would be inclined to get some 2x2 or 2x3 timber and make a spacer, if it's more then perhaps some money might be
required to get some ali formed.
Wood is cheap, and light
What about something like Aluminium Box Tube 50mm x 40mm x 3mm Wallx1000mm Long | eBay?
I used some steel tube as above to improve forward vision for IVA. Removed post-IVA as I can see fine without it.
Alternatively, use seat runners - this will give you a few inches plus you get adjustable seats.
I've used the 2" square alloy tube approach else at 5'5" sitting in my fury was a bit Little britain.

I would be looking at gaining another 2" potentially (wouldn't we all )
I didn't consider square plate or wood as I was concerned on stress if I needed to stop quickly...maybe that is the only option other than
purpose built subframes.
embarrassingly I'm only getting round to fit the seats now, and realised jk composites didn't supply bolts for fitting.
I know a good few of you have these fitted already so I guess I'm looking for direction on bolt size?
cheers

anyone?
what bolts did you use for the jk seat fitment.
thanks
I got my seats from JK with the custom thread inserts embedded inside them. These would fit M8 bolts
