Saw some of the above today at the local car uphostery place. Available in various patterns. I thought it looked quite good. Thinking of making a
tunnel cover with it, so as not to take anything away from the bare aluminium of the rest of the car interior. Nicely solves the edge radii stuff for
the SVA and the glare of bare aluminium on the tunnel top issues.
However at about £40 per metre it's not cheap (the roll is 1.5m wide).
Anyone else using this stuff or know of anywhere cheaper to buy it ?
do you have a picture of it.....
cheers
colin
No, been trying to find on on the net. I'll keep looking. I justed hoped someone on here had seen used the stuff before.

Hi Gmtbh
They say that "imitation is the sincerest
form of flattery", but IMHO if you want
an ali interior, use the real thing.
I think I'll stick with dark blue vinyl
@ £4.50 /m .
I do however commend anyone who does
something different.

GMTBH, have you tried Fabric Warehouse. I know there's one in Grantham. Theyhave allsorts of groovy textiles, if the don't have they can get
it.

Hi GMTBH
Sorry, I didn't mean YOU were "looking to
imitate". I mean the company that makes
the vinyl.
In my "sandwich " post the sample of vinyl
in the pic is a dark grey, complements nice
shiny metal, without pretending to be
something else. I'm tempted myself, that
or dark blue.
Another example is a company that makes
a bike exhaust can that they call titanium,
it's coloured silver to blue, imitating the
metals temper colours.
If it was real it would be: silver, gold,
blue, purple.
I must stress this is just MY opinion,
and I do talk crap sometimes.

Hi, No need to apologize at all. On reading back through the whole thread it's probably me that comes across a bit "short &
sharp", not the intention I can assure you. You seem "one of the good guys".
Maybe one day we'll meet up and I can buy you a pint.
Paul G
I like it!
cheers type 907, maybe meet you at Donnington show this year ? (early Sept). Who knows the car may even be on the road (if I work really hard) by then
and I'll take you round the track for a few laps.
As far as fabric goes I'm going to check this Fabric Warehouse place out. I do like the aluminium vinyl idea, just want to make sure there is
nothing else better before I take the plunge at £40 a metre !!!
hmmm, Donnington, quite fancy that, might see you there.
Good luck with your car.

As luck would have it I have just purchased 8 yards of the Aluminium effect vinyl from the US for $48 including airmail shipping !!!! Thats £26 for
over 7 metres of the stuff. So I'll use what I need to and most likely offer the rest on here for others to use.
£40 per metre...ha
This arrived today 8 yards ???? looks far more than that. In fact looks like the entire roll !!!
The stuff is tough and looks just like aluminium. I can't think what it's intended purpose was, too thick for clothing and too stiff for
uphostery (and no real strectch. Still, looks like it will be good for what I wanted it for - the tunnel top and sides and the side panels.
I'll keep you updated.
