What's the best thing to use for an aeroscreen for my Avon and what thickness should it be and where can I get it????
Bearing in mind that it can only be fixed to the pillars at each side due to the scuttle being flat on top.
I was originally going to use some white UPVC and spray it black, but don't know whether it will pass SVA?
Does anyone now the maximum height you can have it before SVA class it as a screen?
Cheers,
Pat...
Hi
You can use what you like. Most people use acrylic (perspex) although it cracks and shatters under hard impact. Polycarbonate is much better although
much dearer. As for the height, it all depends on the height of the seat squab. Surely you have an sva manual, it tells you in there, or sva the car
and then fit it after - perfectly legal.
The aeroscreens as supplied by Mac1 are 6.35mm (1/4" thick. Easily cut using a perspex cutting designed blade in a jigsaw. Drill very carefully
though! As Loco' says it does crack 'star' pretty easily.

5mm thick perspex, radiused. Vertical supports shaped from ali sheet with extra thickness above scuttle to get necessary radius.
Perspex glued with black sealant. Quite ridged.
Perspex £15 BTW from local plastic Co.

I have the template for the screen lightning has, if you want it. Or ring Tiger and ask Sue to draw round one for you, she did it for me !!!
You dont have to be carefully at all with 6,35 meter thick perspex, you only need a looooooooooong drill
