Brake caliper reconditioning
Hi guys!
Here are my Sierra rear calipers. I have thoroughly cleaned them but they still are not in a good condition aesthetically. I plan to fully recondition
them, sandblast and powdercoat them with high temp powder.
My question is: How can i recondition the calipers, i.e. remove all the seals and pistons and fit new ones. As you can see the pistons has a bit of
pitting on them. Do i need to replace the pistons with new ones?
Where can i find new pistons and seals and how can i remove them? Thanks in advance!

It is a bid pricey at 79 pounds for option3.
I know that it will not cost me less if i make them by my own, but it's the DIY devil...
Thanks guys!!!

Buy new ones. They were £26 each from my local factors.
Sorry - just realised they are rears. I was talking about fronts.

If I was doing mine again I would throw in the bin and purchase some new VAG ones, BORO, Golf etc.

I have done my calculations with this caliper so i must use it. It is also comfy to use these calipers to go with the Sierra handbrake ever and
linking. What is the benefit of using VAG calipers? Had VAG ever the reputation of good braking after all?

I think it's because they are made from aluminium alloy.

I'm doing mine now.
brakesint.com for seals and pistons.
i shot blasted mine and just painted black with HT paint. Total cost for front and rears is about £50, so much cheaper than the cheapest of the
biggred options.
And its fun to do, and in the locost spirit

Thanks! It is not so much for the cost saving but for the fan of DIY!
Do you have a step by step guide for caliper dissasembly/assembly?
