Making adjustable trailing arms
What is the technique to making the end on an adjustable trailing arm?
Do you weld a nut into the tube end or tap a thread into the tube end?
Is a lock nut required to hold the shperical bearing in place?
Any advice / pictures welcome.
Thanks

Make an insert that can be welded in to the tube and tap this.
Grind a fishmouth or a couple of V's in the end of the tube you will be inserting the sleeve in to so you will have a longer weld in different
planes.
Also plug weld the insert a bit further back.
Use half nuts with the spherical bearings

you can buy inserts from rally design (i did anyway) or billy mcgill on ebay
i bought the inserts, and then went to metal supermarket to find tube which was a perfect tight fit 25mm o.d with 2mm wall thickness if i remember
right

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

For my panhard rod I used inserts from McGill, as above ^^^, and plug welded as above ^^^. I have drilled four (6 or 7mm) holes in the tube at the
location of the insert. Then I have inserted the insert and welded up the holes. Also the end has been welded.
I have used an old bolt in the insert during welding, to prevent spatter damaging the thread.
It's hard to see on the pic, but to give you an idea:

You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.
