Maximum prop length
I'm planning on using a different diff which is considerably longer than the norm.
Do you think I'll get away with a one-piece prop? Approximate distance from flange to flange of 50"
R1 btw.

Unless you have the engine rigidly mounted I would want a sliding prop at the very least.....
Dont want to overload the UJs!

you'll need a 2 piece prop, because your using a bike engine and its impossible to get prop flange ( on engine gearbox) centralised in
tunnel.
Install engine then measure flange to flange and then adapt existing prop or get a new un.
TRT prop is best with 'clunky bike gearbox

bloody hell no!!
That's ridiculous, how long is the car!!
I would consider 1500mm flange to flange about the max, in my "personal opinion"
That's just me, no science, but 1 piece longer than that puts a lot of strain on things and relies on PERFECT balancing

For that length you would also need to up the tube size to 2 1/2" maybe 3" because of the hamonics and to increase strength.
Not worth the risk

ooooh never looked at dia, our 1.4m long prop was 3" of course, I wouldn't use anything else on a saloon car, and no special I have built
ever had a prop longer than 1m

Is this from the end of the gearbox to the start of the diff? There's no max length on them we have 30 foot wagons at work and the prop runs
pretty much the full length

i myself originaly was going to use impreza running gear but the length of the diff is not what put me off, it was the fact that the wheel track
was'nt wide enough for a +4 and also the front hubs were not really suitable.
I still have all the running gear in the shed, i may use it one day  .
