Handbreak cable tightning
wasn't to sure where to put this thread..
I have tightned my handbreak cable (sierra) though if i pull on the handbreak hard, eg parked on a hil, it slips! How can i tighten it so that it
doesn't slip or is the answer - don't pull to hard!

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Are the normal brakes bled properly? Unless they're working properly the handbrake auto-adjuster can't compensate.... If so its usually a
case of pulling hard enough

I have the same problem, the plastic cable tightner things on the sierra cable just slip....
Really want to convert it to the VAG solution...using threaded style cables... (morse type I think)

Slacken the cable right back and let the self-adjusters work.
RTFM
With Disc rears you can knacker the self-adjuster if you tension the cable too much,.

I assume that what you are refering to, is that after you have adjusted the cable, if you pull hard on the handbrake the adjuster slips back along the
threaded section? Have you, after adjusting, made sure that the locking nut is fully tightened against the back of the adjusting nut, this effectively
doubles the amount of thread, making it harder for it to pull through. HTH Ray

Further to the previous replies I have been advised that the handbrake won't adjust up properly until the hydraulics are properly set up and
bled. I did the same thing, set up the handbrake on dry calipers and wondered why it didn't work !
