Wheels Bloody Wheels
Has anyone tried to get wheels with a Peugeot or Ford fitment at 17" X 7.5" or 17" X 8". Virtually impossible!!!
Loads of wheel stockists promise the earth, swearing that they can supply, then they find out that no one manufactures wheels of that size. I have
found one set from Toora but that is just about it, the Performance Alloys web site shows loads for that fitment but they don’t exist when
you phone up!!
If anyone has a set with that dimension I would be interested in knowing the make and model. Image Wheels aside, I already have a mortgage!!

What is the PCD and the offset required on those wheels?

Have you looked at Saab wheels? 
Not sure about the offset but I know the old Saab four bold pattern was the same PCD as Fords. I think it was 104mm.
Some old high end Turbo 900's & 9000's had 16's as standard and aftermarket firms went bigger, Ronal is one name that springs to
mind.
Or ring Trent Saab or Abbot racing and talk to them about wheel specs.

Nick, if you want to wear the cost of postage from OZ, I make 3 piece wheels in the same manner as Image, but at a fraction of the cost. I can also do
you a unique centre that no one else would have. Any width, and off-set and any PCD.

You got any pictures of the kind of wheels you make?
One day (many years from now) when our BMW thing is up and running we'll want to replace the knackered old Beemer 16" alloys....

Weird!
I was pretty sure that every Rat-Boy idiot round here with a 'suped-up' 306, Escort, Saxo etc. etc. that they've fitted with larger
wheels has put 17's on!
In the days when I read a lot of VW Golf magazines they were all fitted with 17x7.5s too.

Look in a copy of max power for large alloys, and at 17" your gonna have to expect a large cost. sorry but thats the way it is. Try halfords
they do some good deals on team dynamics alloys. Youll get your 17" there, maybe even 18's.

enopugh I could find were Falken's
That said VIPER has a nice set of 17" wheels perhaps he could let us know the details.....

I'm curious about what wheels to go for (although we aint even started on the metal yet!). To me 17in wheels seem a bit big for a Locost but I
think we'll need bigger wheels than a caterham academy for example since we'll have over double the torque and and possibly almost double
the power so traction is an issue. Would 15s with 205/50s or similar be about right? It wants to have decent traction but still allow a bit of power
oversteer fun if provoked (we're aiming to get an LSD too)
Just out of interest does anyone know what these wheels are and what cars had them:

there was a set of them for sale on ebay recently, it said the make, but i can't remember. Doubt they're still there, but I searched on
ford alloys i think.

I thought the same James and I found loads of 17" wheels with the correct PCD and offset but virtually nothing at 7.5 or 8" width. I guess
it is a case that most hot hatches can't fit F Off big tyres like 235s under their arches.
I have been looking for a fairly specific design at the right size, asking for what I want is probably too much to ask of some people. All the wheel
peddlers come up with is one or two wheels of any old design and then can't understand why I don't want the crappy choice.
Tyres don't seem to be a problem Protojf Toyo seem fairly good but then again I may be concentrating on the fancy tread rather than the
useability

Sorry Nick I should have checked a little better - I am looking for LOW (35's) profile 240/245's on 17"s to match my 205/40's
at the front........
I know the arguments against - I just can't resist all that rubber...hmmmmmm

My tyres are 205 40 17 and the rims are 7x17 and to be honest i think it will be over tyred..but i don't care i like the look

The wheels on that car appear to be Wolfrace slots, very common in the 70s they were about all you could get aftermarket!
A friend once had a seriously low Cortina with Slots on, I thought it looked good at the time!

Depends on width, whether you want both sides polished etc, but a guide for a basic 6 X 15 would be somewhere in the region of $360...say
roughly 160 quid. I suppose though, by the time you add on postage/duty, they may get out of hand.
