I've got a list in front of me and on 2.3 diesel Sierras '82 to '87 it says some had 3.14.
If it is a 2.3V6 some had 3.62. Later petrol models were 3.38

My list also gives tag codes for example 83BG 4006 BA or 83BG 4006 AA. Not much help if you haven't got the tag!

Not the definitive answer I'm afraid but a good chance it may be one of these two.

John

point it downwards then take the backplate off the code is stamped on the crown wheel. Youll also be able to prove the condition of the teeth with a photo if you want to sell it, and also see if its lsd or not.

The number you have quoted is not in the list
Could the number be
83BG 4006 BA. . This is given in the list as :Some fitted with 3.38 LSD. What a find if it is.

If it's 3.38 or 3.14 I'd be interested.

Agreed, THIS is the best place to sell it...

Would also be interested in the differential as I'm presently trying to source a Ford 3.38 diff for my Leugo Velocity BEC

You couldn't pwn your way out of a wet paper bag, with "PWN ME!!" written on it, from the "pwned take-away" which originally contained one portion of chicken tikka pwnsala and the obligatory free pwnpadom.
