Copper brake pipe!

A stupid question that I should know the answer to, does copper brake pipe need to have its spec written on it to pass sva? Is the cheap stuff on ebay eg:

3/16 DIAMETER is correct isn’t it!

My personal preference is cupro nickel. Slightly harder to shape than copper pipe.If you choose copper, for your own safety insist it is marked/pressure tested for use as brake pipe. Why don`t car manufacturers use (cheaper) copper pipe??

Because the steel pipe they use is even cheaper I use Kunifer at £6 a roll from the local spares shop.

I went for the more expensive stuff in the end!

My next question is, how do I do the transition from pipe to flexi? I have tabs with holes already welded onto my chassis but can see any bulkhead fitting brake unions on the net.

cheers paul,

so is that just a male-male fitting? female on the end of the flexi hose and a female on the copper pipe! did you put a back nut on as well?

The flexy has a long male thread.

It will pass through the ally (when I fit it) and through the bracket and the nut holds it in place.

The brass female fitting then screws onto the remaining flexy thread.

Not braided but

I welded a tag to the face of my fu tube to get the flexy out of the way of everything and it doesn't go through the panel.
