Brake pipes & live axles
How do poeple fasten the brake pipes onto a live axle with drum brakes (MK2 escort) They are currently fastened with tie-wraps which I'm sure
would be a SVA fail. I thought of Stainless Steel tie-wraps but don't know were to get them from

usually tabs of thin sheet welded to axle and folded over pipes.

I used large jubilee clips (about 4" diameter from B&Q), undid them then reconnected them round the axle and the pipes. I slipped a piece of
slit fuel hose over the pipes.

Or,
drill a small hole in a jubilee clip, a c/s screw through the hole from the inside, and fit to axle.
A "p" clip, washer & nut on the protruding thread.

I would follow the manufacturer on this one and do as has been said. Make some taps from 18swg mild steel and weld to the axle casing. It will look
professional and as it was meant to be.

Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Scutter, how have you sealed the threads to stop oil leaks or am I missreading your photo?

yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

No, five of them and a pleck.
At the moment the room light is off, the tank light is on and the window is open.
Big commotion every now and then when one of them catches a moth.

Owelly, It's just the way the pictures taken, the threads are an inch above the fill line, doesn't need sealing yet.

Seeing as the car is all but finished jubilee clips with p-clips fastened to them seems to be the best solution. Will report after SVA which with a
following wind may only be a month away
