Diff goes in the back into the axle, with a tin plate over it. Escort axles are usually English axles, which have a seperate diff housing which fits in the front of the casing.

The twiddly thing on the right? Breather tube.

Looks like Escort MK salsbury the hand brake rod guide eye on the back of the diff is the id feature for escort axles most Capri axcles used the Mk1/2 Cortina style hand brake cable that ran under the diff.

Apart from every Capri axle on sale on eBay also has the eye on the diff cover.

Fix the leak with Hylomar Blue, no need for a gasket. Just make sure the surfaces are clean and oil free.

Syd.

That's what I'd do, only trouble is a small tube of Hylomar is nearly twice as much as a gasket. Useful stuff to have around though.
