Track rod ends
Just a quickie, I have an escort steering rack with M14x2 threaded ends and standard sierra front hubs, what track rod ends do I go for, sierra?
escort? or option C, none of the above ;-)
If it ain't broken, fix it anyway (just because).
Building - BMW powered Haynes Roadster/442E hybrid.

I know my build is a bit different, but out of the 70+ views of this thread is nobody else using sierra hubs with an escort rack? ;-)
If it ain't broken, fix it anyway (just because).

Haynes Roadster that use a MK2 Escort rack and Sierra hubs uses Sierra track rod ends. You may need extensions like the Haynes.

I cannot confirm it with receipts, but I am sure I used Escort track rod ends with the Sierra uprights.

Having checked ebay, all of the Sierra ones seem to have an offset where mine are straight which supports the Escort design. I suppose it depends on
the where the rack is mounted and the steering geometry. Really needs an answer from the 'locost chassis community'

Had a look through photos on the internet and seems to be a mix of straight and offset, think I like the look of the straight escort mk2 ones, just
hope the taper matches the sierra hub.

I thought the Escort ones were smaller. If you can wait a week I can see if my Escort ones fit a Sierra hub. (My car is at the in-laws whilst I moved)

You may have more than one solution.
Offset Track Rod Ends are to clear stuff that may not be present in your car and add weight as extra material.
You can have a custom solution if you can get the taper on the Hub and the thread of the Track Rod abd select something that mixes both specs.

Avagolen,
Your Track Rod End looks way more robust than your Lower Ball Joint. Which leads me to believe it can be done.
Or I may be wrong.
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....
