Best Suited Pedal set for book built Locost ?
Hi all, I am new to the forum and I am currently building via the book a locost, I have seen many variations for the pedal box and if to fit a servo
type or not ? any suggestion more than welcome as to the best way forward. I have a type 9 box to a zetec 1.8 from a si escort. thanks in advance.

Doubt you will need a servo, the brakes where made for a car probably twice the weight of a Locost .

Pedals Etc.
Check out JAG who posts on here. He has fitted a servo, although only a small one, possibly from a Nissan Micra. Notwithstanding which, no servo
fitted to my Locost, std Cortina fronts, std Capri rears (but with slightly larger wheel cyls).
Pedal set up - I used 2nd-hand Westie top-mounted pedal box, which suited my project. Its OK for road use.

I just welded some pivots off the top rail to hang my pedals off, clutch 1" round tube brake 1" box, throttle 3/4" round tube.
Beefed up the bullhead and dropped a landrover 90 master brake cylinder on the front with a pivot ratio of around 5:1, the clutch is cable so the
pivot was to suit maximum travel on the clutch arm, throttle the same for the throttle bodies, just take off above the pivot not below with a flexible
joint.
For the actual pedals welded some small plates at the correct angles and bolted some of those boy racer cheap aluminium pedal set to them.
You can see them here just although the throttle on is laying on the floor.

Here's more of the top detail, you need to have a decent length rod on the master cylinder so I spaced it out with a bit of 2" tube.

I have used MX5 parts for the master clutch and throttle and am using MX5 engine and box.
When dismantling the MX5 I cut out the section of bulkhead that supported the brake clutch and throttle and welded it to the car at the end of the
foot-well. Then I folded some 1 mm sheet steel and made a support box welded it in and bolted in the pedal assemblies from the car. I had to narrow
the bulkhead a little between the clutch and master to fit. A U shaped support across the top where the pedal assemblies hang was added for extra
strength and then used the MX 5 clutch and brake masters together with servo. The throttle cable was shortened by about 4" to fit. I've
kept the load sensing valve thing to stop rear wheel locking at the moment and also had Sylvain make up a flexible hose direct to the clutch slave.
I'm just putting all the fuel and brake pipes in at the moment but it all fits.
I recognise that the car does not normally need a servo but I have arthritis in my knees (I am retired) so want every bit of help I can get. This
arrangement gives me lots of room for resting my clutch foot as well.
As an aside I have a book spec professionally built tig welded floor mount pedal set that I will be selling soon if anyone wants them, not thought
about price yet
