Quaife ATB Diff with disc brakes
Hi all,
I originally planned to run rear disc's on my car and a standard Ford LSD. However i am now going to fit a quaife ATB which sits in a normal
open different housing with push in shafts.
What are my options given the kit I already have...
I have a spare Ford LSD
I have a set of push in shafts
I have a set of bolt on shafts
I have both the disc and drum uprights with associated beatings
I have the 4x4 brake setup
I have read about hybrid shafts however this is always aimed at running the Ford LSD with drums I want to do the opposite in effect, alsoI believe the
ddifferent type of CVs cause premature wear?
So what are my options? I presume people have done it this way before as I can't imagine everyone with ATBs run drums?

Easy option is to fit drum hubs with disc caliper brackets

Fit the 4x4 brakes you already have with the bolt on shafts and LSD you have and get it up and running.
When you upgrade to a ATB diff you buy the diff and the bolt on adapters from Quaife then it's an easy straight swap.
It's the way I should have went but right now I have a 3.38 ATB diff, push in shafts and disc breaks
You need this Diff with flanges and a 23deg Helix angle

The 7" diff is available open with lobro shafts. The flanges will work with the quaife.
The Sierra LSD flanges do not work with a Quaife.

So looks like either getting a set of quaife flanges or a set of flanges form a 7 inch non LSD bolt on is the way to go.

yes but I believe that if you use the ford flanges you need to machine them to suit snap rings rather than the circlips they normally use (as the
quaife diff doesn't allow you access to fit the circlips) - if you ask quaife they will have all the details

Will keep an eye outfor a pair and machine tgem as Id rather some extra work than paying out extra money! Dont suppose you know if the snap rings go
in place of the circlips or if they are in a different position?

I did it by getting shafts made at GB engineering, push in spline on diff end, lobro spline on upright end, worked a treat, and the shafts are lighter
and stronger.

Sorry no, but the must be the same snap rings and positions as the push-in shafts that fit the ATB
