Steering column crushable section
Hi All
Please can someone confirm that the bit in the pic is a suitable (IVA) crushable section?
Many thanks
Leon
Hopefully the image works!

You need to upload the picture to the internet as we cant see whats on your hardrive!
use the photo archive http://locostbuilders.co.uk/photos.php
then just paste the link that starts [pg]...

Yes. Many sierra columns like that have passed. Also this section is "pre-crushed" it gets elongated as the column collapses..

Its the triangular section of yours that will 'collapse'

That is an adjustable column, the shock absorber bellows section is after the bracket and expands on impact whereas the fixed column has the bellows
before the bracket and it compresses on impact working in conjunction with the triangular section which extends into the main column as it collapses
so that it does not buckle and push back into the cockpit.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Now that Pete, is what's known in the trade as a complete answer! Should be a sticky I reckon, seen the question regarding crushable columns
so many times.
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......
