VW Calipers - silly question!?
Hi All, I've just been trial fitting my VW sourced calipers onto my Midi. I am using the original pads at the moment having cleaned and painted
the calipers. The 'outside' pad doesn't appear to fit!! I have pushed the spring clips into the slot but this doesn't allow the
pads to sit flush. Are the two pads different - I can see the marks where the pads used to fit and they don't line up with how I have fitted
them! What am I doing wrong??

^ in that case i can't see the problem
the carrier is the bit that hold the pads in the right place.

the carrier is integral to the calipers function.
have you tried fitting them to the carriers? this might instantly solve your fitting problem

in fact, you can see on the pads, there's some marks on them where the 2 'fingers' on the end of the caliper touched them, you see
they sit a lot 'higher' up (in reletion to the last photo)
and like craig says, once the carrier is on, it holds everything in the right place. well, thats not what he actually said, but it still works

The springs DONT sit in the slot!!!
They press up against the caliper body Not in the slot

Got it! Had just discovered that! Told you it was a silly question! Thanks everybody.
Only problem now is that the calipers just foul my 14" wheels, I had hoped the spacers would cure that,
Anyone near Newark/Lincoln/Grantham got any 15" Ford Wheels????....

It shouldn't be too difficult to make them fit under 14's...
We've made them fit under 13's with reletive ease, albeit with slight mods to the discs to make them fit and a bespoke ally bracket.
