What car(s) do these calipers come off?
I'm using a set of these hydra-mech calipers bought from Rally Design:
Description
I believe they are an OE VAG unit? Does anyone know what make/model car or cars they come off? It would be nice to know for future reference for if or
when I want to replace the pads (I'm not sure RD are selling them any more?)
Cheers,
Bill

Look very much like Golf II rears
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

They also look very like the ones on my MKIII(ish) Golf.

NOOOOOOO
They are mk4 golf or polo of same age. Or any of the VAG group between late 98 and late 2003 ish
Mk2 golf are cast iron and seize up in the winter (had them on my corrado and changed them to the Mk4 ones) where as the Mk4 golf are alloy and are of
same design as the Mk2, its a very common upgrade in the VDub scene

Iirc they look very similar to the ones used on the late Seat Ibiza/cordoba rear calipers... possibly a mk4?
Who the f**K tightened this up!

Ok, I'm in a patient mood, so I'll explain.
See the bit where I said MKIII 'ish' Golf ?
That's because my car is a 2000 model year Cabrio, which all true Anoraks know is neither MKIV or MKIII, but a strange mix of both.
Just didn't want to bore the whole world with the above story about it being a MK3.5 Golf.

I'am using similar ones on my Phoenix.
Mine are aluminium with steel carriers (half the weight of all iron)
They are off a late Audi A3 (and they don't have the coil spring thingy)
A good alternative to sierra ones

Same as sierra ones, fit straight on.
253mm sierra discs, pads fit exacty in middle of disc...
but...brake cable comes out of bottom of caliper but can be made to fit.

Thanks for all the replies. I've done a bit of googling on MKIV golfs and they certainly look the same (lucas system), as do the pads. Looks
like the caliper is widely used on other VAGs as well.
Thanks again,
Bill
