Oh dear my shaft is to long
dave1888 - 27/12/03 at 05:42 PM

Just tried fitting the steering column to my cat e1 and discovered the column is to long. The length between the mounting holes and the end of the outer tube.
Is there a difference between years of sierra mines a 1989 2.0i estate

how much too long ?
Are we talking centimeters or milimeters ?

Are we thinking colapsable columns again? I know there is a length difference between the adjustable and the normal, I have a non adjustable power derived column if you need any measurements. Rescued attachment Sierra Column.jpg

You can loosen the pinch bolt on the top sierra mount and get about an inch of play either way. I did it on mine and you can mount the column in front or behind the top mount to get a bit more adjustment. Mine is a book chassis but it should apply to other types.

yours, Pete.
