hi
( merry christmas BTW)
Has anybody got a drawing / sketch / sizes of an adaptor to fit discs +calipers to a sierra that used to have drum brakes?
the disc hubcarrier has these 2 flanges that the caliper bolts on to.
The drum version is obviously missing these.
Thanks

if this is for a sierra and not a locost.....
why not go to a scrap yard and buy the whole swinging arm and brake assby from a car and fit as a whole? just 3 bolts to remove it

don't see the problem why can't you get the parts from a sierra with rear discs from a scrapy?
one of the RH peps has this info on this
http://nw.rhocar.org.uk/reardiscs.htm
I dunno how the drum one compares but....
on my car the caliper carrier bolts onto the bearing carrier, that can be ground off the donor car....
do these pics help?

Koen,
If you have an Indy with MK's drum brake rear uprights then you can't fit discs without some pretty major changes.
The piece that Steve refers to in his second post (the bit of the MK upright that the hub carrier bolts to) will need to be turned approx 80° (test
before welding- don't make same mistake as me! ) on MK's upright for you to fit the calliper in- otherwise the calliper hits the top of
the upright. That is why when you buy your kit you need to tell MK which back end you intend to use as they give you different uprights.
I 'spose you may be able to bodge it by switching the callipers around but I'm not sure about that- you'll also face handbrake cable
routing issues.
You may be able to exchange the uprights at MK which'll make life easier!
Hope that helps (or atleast makes you aware of a few pitfalls )...
James
P.S. If you do have MK's disc uprights then ignore the above!

I am having the required adaptor plates laser cut in the next week or so, also will be doing the calipers in the future. Email me off list
darren@gtstuning.co.uk and i can sort some out for you.
Kind regards,
Darren
hi
Yes james
i did have the dics upright. ( fortunately)
so it will be possible to fit the calipers.
need to make some kind of adapter though.
B.t.w. i don't know if the sierra with the tripods did have disc brakes? or only the cars with the real lobro's?
so looking around scrappies will be of no use :-(
thanks
Koen
