it pulls out of the casing very easily

it does need the breather as expansion and contraction of oil could cause slight pressure drop, same reason for petrol tank having a breather really.

Normally on the Sierra it's routed into somewhere dry and out of the way. If you take it off altogether, you could end up with debris getting in so I'd replace it with rubber/plastic and route it likewise, out of the way.

They're only 10cm long on sierra and almost without fail will be perished and useless anyway, so I'd imagine you can do with out.

i folded mine in half so no oil would spill, sure enough it split anyway. Gonna worry about it later, but probably just bodge it somehow...

I beleive the Ford part number for the breather is

90 BG 4022 AB

They should be about £1.20 +VAT if Ford can still get hold of them!

Good luck.

Protofj,

If you (or anyone else) are still looking for the breathers I've got some spares. Only got 2, but they're BRAND NEW. £2.50 inc P&P for the both of them. U2U if interested. FCFS.
