Cortina (front) axle nuts & locking plates
mstepien - 31/1/07 at 10:11 AM

Hi,
Not being available in the dealership anymore (here in Poland, I mean) I need to source the axle nuts & locking plates for mark IV/V cortina hubs/uprights assembly otherwise. Does anybody have any idea what other car I can take them from ? Or even what are the dimensions of the nut (height in particular) so I can get a generic one ? As for the locking plate, I've heard that I can easily adapt the VW one.
For some info, I've attached the picture of what I'm talking about (according to my girflind my writing is impossible to understand even in Polish)
Thanks for any help

if only you posted earlier ..... I tighted driver's side bearing on Saturday so could ahve taken the nut to measrue the thread.

If you can find a castellated nut then you won't need the cap; Land rovers used them but don't know if the same size nor if the casellations will match the hole in the stub.

Micheal.

I think they are available from MNR as the use the same bits on the raceleda. My only concern is if the Tread is the same.

The locking plates are still available over here in the UK - I just went into my local Ford dealer last month and bought them over the counter for less than £1

Have a look on http://www.oldpartstore.co.uk They have the hub nut and castellated locking retainer listed for the MK3/4 and 5 Cortina.
I've used them recently and seem to be a good supplier (no probs with delivery etc.)

Andy.

Thx guys.
I'll give the oldpartsstore a ring tomorrrow and check the delivery details (not everybody is willing to send to Poland, what a shame).
