gb engineering always gets mentioned, but im sure any prop manufacturer could make half shafts too.

quite probably not! Most may not have the spline cutting facility required.

don't know if GB Eng have the tooling for freelander splines but give them a try

well, the place i went to in bradford imply they can do driveshafts on their website. Whether they would be as experienced as Geoff is another question entirely.

Where are you?

Fisher use Freelander diffs on the Fury and I think stikk use Sierra bits at the outboard end - it might be worth giving them a ring.

Who do GTS use to shorten Sierra shafts?

This might be a bit far away for you but Euro Driveshafts near Kilmarnock in Scotland made a new custom shaft for me some years ago & very good it was too! They also produce a wide range of halfshafts and could probably adapt something. I found an exact match for the driveshafts from a 1958 Peerless GT there & now the club source from them. Do a Yell.com search for driveshafts in Ayrshire to find them. Very helpful.

sorry Joel, was a bit brief but too busy for big answers!! Meant that a lot of prop people buy the splined ends in and just weld them to tubes or assemble the uj's

no probs nat, i roughly followed you anyway! Is there an advantage to cutting your own splines? Cost? Better results? One day soon (ie within a few years! ) i will need some shafts myself!

the fisher ones are just half a freelander one and half a sierra 2i welded together with a sleeve (ill get a pic in the morning) the sierra shafts are the thicker of the 2 push in ones.

So this welded / tubed solution will meet SVA requirements?

just realised I never answered!

The advantage is the shaft is one piece, the splined bit is integral with the rest of the shaft, it's light and there are no welds etc.
