Can anyone tell me how this comes apart? looks different to other trilobe joints where you cut the cover off. Its all one solid machined lump.

Is there a circlip or similar on the other end?

Why want you take it apart?

Prob. to replace the cover. There are some joints that won't get apart. In that case it's better to take the otherside joint apart to replace the covers.

The circlip is inside behind the plastic disc I presume. The joint at the other end (wheel) is the same. It was miles bigger than teh brake back plate.
The whole thing looks and sounds solid. I've used a file to see if there are any joins but cant see any.
All I want to do is replace the boots as they are perished and leaking.
Stuck big time!!

Where the recess is about 1/3 of the way from the end of the joint. Thats actually a joint where the cover presses onto the joint itself. Well i think it is. its probably rusted up so it looks solid. Have a scrape with a screwdriver.

I'll try the electrolysis on it.

I've never seen one like this, all the others are flat across the top.

Will I be able to get the new metal sleeve for it OK? Any one else got them like this one??

If there is no play in the joint then, as you say just replace the boots...

A few different ways but this is what I did a couple of days ago...
