Upper ball joint size
Canada EH! - 16/2/06 at 01:47 AM

I have two sets of upper ball joints (steering rod joints) One was sent from the UK as Ford Transit has 200 mm tread, and the taper is much larger than that of the upright, I think it is too big. The other sourced in Canada has an 11/16 tread and almost fits in the taper on the upright. What is being used on the book chassis with Cortina upright, and how can I get the proper piece? Thanks.

You have a Transit Track rod end what you need is the drag link end -- rh thread

QH part number QD1117RH

As for sources in your continent I am sure someone will post sugestions.

The transit drag link coupling is M18x1.5 thread and is nowhere near 200mm ( 8" ) in length. The one you have is M20 I think. What you need is this
.Look on the lolocost site here .

Sorry about the(200mm) it's 20mm, I grew up in the Imperial measure system, Canada changed to Metric I didn't.

Thanks again gents, just ordered the proper parts from Luego. The 20mm units came from another supplier in the UK., A fellow named Andy Hewing in Ipswitch.

Hi Bob,
your foto is helpful for me!
What is Transit TRE?
The only differene is on the taper?
I try transit drag link but does not fit on insert adaptor, so I think I will need "TRE" bud I do not understand what means TRE.
Sorry for my English

TRE = Track Rod End, but you need the rh thread DRAG LINK, the TRE as pictured is a different size.

There are several different Transit TRE joints, only one will work. Check this PDF-catalog and it might get clearer. You want two of the SID Ref 2032 I believe you have two 2030.
