I had welded the shock brackets on my axle and found my shocks were to long as usual.

shock before

So i took the angle grinder to it and cut the brackets off.

Much better. Got about 10mm ish gap between the axle and chassis at full droop.

that is exactley the sam setup as ive got

a long bolt goes thru the shock then the bracket that holds the tie rod

seems to have worked fine !!

Yep I had Luego weld my brackets on before I was confident with the welder.

Looked a plonker when I said dont the shock brakets come with it for that price

I just need to make up a little spacer to go between the shock and the bracket and clean up me axle and paint it now.

Im glad it worked i thought i was going to have to get a new pair of shocks.

I used a few washers to fill the gap, not very technical or pretty , but who will see it

Andy, where did you get your De-dion set from? Looking to make one myself due to being tight Or, does anyone know of someone who can bend 50mm x 5mm CDS?

I built it from a kit of parts supplier by MK Engineering (£80).

50mm x 5mm CDS Might as well use an axle as you won't save any weight! Mine is made from 50mm x 2mm ERW. It does flex a bit but I haven't broken it yet and I've done 40miles on rough country roads!
