I think I've found the source of my handling problem as discussed in the middy section. However, IMHO it's too important to not let everyone
know my findings. As stated before, this was a really dramatic handling defect which very nearly wrote off the car. I knew that the OSR felt
much less secure than the NSR. The suspect corner had obviously had a new ball joint at one point. I reckon that this was the source of the
problem.
Two pics below. First is the part on the car at the moment, second is a new OEM part. There is easily 5-6mm difference in the mounting holes. This
5-6mm discrepancy at the hub could easily mean 10-12mm at the wheel rim.
Existing part
New part...
Any thought on this are most welcome.

Have you measured the distance from the holes to the balljoint, they could be the same distance.
Then again it could just be from a faulty batch.
Yep - I take your point, but I don't actually have a new part to hand yet - just a stack of pics and none of them look like mine. That and the
fact that I have positive camber all sort of points me in that direction.
I am however wide open to being proven wrong.
Even genuine Rover stuff can be of very low quality, I bet this one wasn't checked for accuracy!

I'd hold onto that Mark, could be worth a few bob in the not too distant future
does that mean if i hold on to my rover 216 nick it'll be worth a fair few bob?
i daren't look at the parkers price guide since you know what
look on the bright side.................scrap prices are still holding up well!
tee hee
A new developement I heard of today is one of the large lease companies has a VERY large number of Rover 75's for sale, sold as seen, without
warranty for less than 10K.
That should really crash the secondhand market, keep an eye on parkers! I think the Rovers will depreciate by about 35+% in the next 3 months - Just
glad Ii haven't bought one recently
word is smolenski? the guy that bought TVR is looking at buying rover
actually i am thinking of buying a rover....
in about 3 months, i'm going to look at a late 75. Should be pretty reliable and bloody cheep big car. BMW diesel engine..... don't think
you can go wrong really.
