Anyone know how to fit the handbrake vertically in the tranny tunnel?

Why do you want to fit the handbrake vertically?

Lifting an object that is rigth by your side is quite unnatural, a vertical handbrake is more natural action.
Instead of mounting the handbreak on a horivontal chassis member on top of the tran tunnel, position the member vertically from top to bottom of the
transmission tunnel.
I can't remember which kit car(s) does it, but some manufacturers mount the handbreak in the passanger footwell next to the trans tunnel,
vertically upwards so that the top is above the top of the tunnel.
The advantage of this ios that it does not impeed on space inside the trans tunnel.
Handbrake on the passenger side of the tunnel is a Sylva trait - take a look at some Fury / Striker Build Diaries.

Also trtying to keep the tranny tunnel as minimal as poss so fancy a vertical handbrake lever just poking up, and possibly even just under the
dash.
No gear lever as I'll be paddle shift only.

easier to use the handbrake from an MG Midget/MGB
Cavalier handbrake bolts to the side of the tunnel and would mount in any orientation.
Mines from a Toyota - Corolla I think.
As a thought if you what a realy minimal effect then you could mount the handbreak on its side under the scuttle. I think (not sure) that lotus may have done this with a 7.

Alternative thought for you Pat, try one from a Citroen XM - they have a foot pedal to put the handbrake on, and a push button to take it off (or maybe the other way round, its a few years since I had the XM). Basically, you don't need any sort of lever in the tunnel area at all. Loads of XM's in scrap yards, but I don't know how complex it would be to transfer to something else. Worked on the front wheels too I think!
