Help to identify Minilite wheel make
tims31 - 11/7/15 at 01:29 PM

Can anyone please help me to identify the manufacturer of these wheels, They are a minilite style with a polished rim and has FORMULA embossed as well as a logo that looks like JJL or JW or something like that (images below)

I need to try and get some centre caps for them if I can

The logo on your wheel is a Japanese standard for alloy wheels, Japan light wheel or something like that. Can't help with the manafacturer though

Can't help with the make, but the logo is JWL which is the type approval marking for Japan

Hmm, I wondered if that was it as I had read around trying to ident the wheel and came across the term. They may even be the true minilites from some of the images I have found they seem to have a similar emboss to the Formula logo on mine but cant quite mak it out from the images.

the centre caps I need are for a 65mm centre hole

I seem to remember from a long time ago...
someone on a triumph forum finding a really locost answer to this problem.
that being
lids from some pasta sauce jars being an interference fit in the wheel centre.
These could then be painted/ chromed/ powder coated as desired.

Locost plastic aerosol can lids may fit !

Hi

Have you tried Midland Wheels, they have a number of centre caps that might fit.

Best of luck

Mark

PS how is the bodywork coming along.

Yep I've had a look at midland wheels but the centres they have are too small or too big. Can't use a pasta lid as I need them to be cups and not flat.

As for the bodywork Mark, we may have some good news, Steve has a new person doing it now, apparently they have the pigment for my body and so it should be being made. Steve was popping across to see them Thursday so hopefully I may have it soon fingers crossed

Someone I know bought an early Birkin 7 that has wheels that look just like that, but are real UK made minilites. On removing the wheels it was discovered that the centre caps were made from baby food jar lids.

Cheers
