Mini Van Steering Rack - Legal?

Hi,

As I'm having problems to find a LHD escort rack for my chassis, I was searching for another options and I found this in locostusa:

How do you see it? I think is a good idea, but not sure if its legal or secure.

No Use at all.

The mini rack is mounted behind the suspension where as the escort is in front of the suspension. you would need to steer right to turn left.

The sierra rack can be used when shortened correctly. Never done it , but someone on here will have the answer.

Burton Power, Rally Designs and Demon Tweeks all sell racks for escorts in LHD.

Yes that is my last possibility. 190£ sounds from here (bulgaria) like an average salary for one month , but will have to do it if its necessary.

Fortunately, car parts are really cheap here

I don't think I'm intelligent enough to turn left to go right

I also thought about shortening the sierra rack but not sure how. I will investigate.

The car or the rack?

I consider it also, another posibility.

The steering rack in my (RHD) car is a LHD mini unit turned upside down. It is the usual position, ahead of the axle line.
So if your car is LHD I would have thought that a RHD mini unit, turned upside down, might fit the bill.

Following with this idea, I think a RHD audi 80 rack (mechanic) can be a good solution, as then I can manage to modify the center plate to fit the correct leght.

There was an East European company making Locosts using Lada parts - I don't know whether they used the steering rack, but it might be worth a look if there are any in your country...

Here there are Ladas everywhere!

Not really familiar with them but I believe that are mainly same as old Seats and Fiats. Worth to take a look!!
