I machined a shiny bit....and it works
liam.mccaffrey - 28/4/14 at 11:46 AM

After much faffing I decided to bite the bullet and make this part myself. After much carefull setting up of the top slide with DTI, I machined this beauty. I was really worried about the matching taper but it turned out perfect. Initial fit showed good contact with machinist blue. When I bolted it up proper I actually struggled to seperate the parts which I'm taking as a good sign.

Its essentially converting my MGZR front upright to take a balljoint, like the sierra mushroom adapters but bigger.

I am a little pleased with myself.

Is that machined from solid!? Possibly the most expensive temperature housing ever :p Looks cool though.

na,.... it was a tube, and a collar heat shrink fitted,. -20 and +250C,.. then finished,..

Solid would have been more swarf than I have space for,.
